Hey picked up a set of CDT CL-61i components from Mike at Vertex a few weeks ago. Midbass sounds great and I haven't even deadened my doors yet. So I was wondering if deadening will actually achieve a measurable gain in midbass (and if so how much mat per door should I use or how many layers?), or should I just not worry about it? Thanks for the help!

Yes deadening the door can improve your mid bass respone. If you seal of the entire door and leave only the holes that are required open. As far as how much all depends on what brand you use and it's thickness. Do you have any certain brand in mind?

Places around here sell Dynamat. Is that good enough?

Dynamat is always a good choice. One of the best choice is SecondSkin. They have really good deadener. The Damplifier Pro is thicker than alomost every other brand out there. So it would take less layers to achieve your goal. With Damplifier Pro you will only need 1 maybe 2 layers. I know people who did one layer of the Pro on their doors and are very happy.

Damplifier Pro will do wonders in just a single layer. You will notice the biggest difference when driving, it helps kill some of the road noise that kills the low end.

Wow that's expensive stuff. Guess it must be worth it though. I'll save up for a little bit and then grab some. Thanks for the help guys

You should see a very nice improvement in the overall performance of your speakers in a well deadened door. Make sure to do both the inner & outer door skins. Double up on large flat surfaces (bends & curves aren't as prone to energy lose due to flex) & seal up the inner skin if possible.
