I have a small dilemma.

My current system consists of CDT CL 62 components powered by an alpine PDX-2.150 amp (150Wx2). I also have some 3/4" imaging tweeters with LP 19 control module that I have not yet installed, but will soon.

It seems one of my crossovers has failed due to a loose power wire. I understand that the CL62's come with EX-480 crossovers, so I could just buy those and be done.

However, I happen to have some old M6 (not M6+) mids laying around.

I found them on sale a few years ago, and thought I would try swapping out the CL62 drivers with the M6's as an "upgrade." Turns out they didn't play as loud or sound quite as nice as the CL62 drivers, at least to my ears. I thought this might be because the crossovers weren't designed for these drivers or because I needed more amplifier power or both. Back then, I had a different amplifier that only put out 100W per side.

Since I now will be purchasing new crossovers anyway, should I try something different than the EX-480's if I want to try swapping in the M6's again? Are the CL62 set's tweeters okay to use with the M6's or would they need to be changed as well? Is 150W RMS enough if I am going to use M6's?

Any help would be appreciated

Hey Joel, the EX-480's are not suited for the M6's. You'll want to use the EX-550i/25 crossovers with the M6's. The xover point on the 550i's is 1.8kHz lower than the EX-480's which will improve your set's midrange response.
