I enjoy thinking back at some of the old school car audio stuff I have seen and used over the years. Anyone got any cool stuff om back in the day to share, (products, brands, trends, installs, etc.

I remember back in 89 (I think) a friend of mine had a Rabbit and he installed 9 6x9's on his rear panel, powered by an EQ booster. LOL it was horriable but it sure was loud.

I also remember in 88 a guy had two 12" free air subs. When he opened his trunk and showed them to me they were just sitting there (hooked up and playing). I asked him why they were not in a box and he said "they are free air and they do not need a box", lol.

Some names I remember

Heart
Hafler
StillWater designs (the real Kicker) & the real kicker box 2 6 1/2' and a passive radiator in the middle
G&S (redline) :)
M&M (Godfather) :)
Blues
Impact (the trunk box with duct work into the rear deck)
Phoenix Gold (the Cyclone) and (Frank amp N Stien) etc.
Altec
ADS (power plate) :)
Urban
Audio Gods
Volcano
Bostwic
Proton
Sansui
HollyWood (lime green surrounds on their subs)
Carver
Canton
The Hott Set Up (a good orion product, well they all were back in the day)
Power 1000
Punch 150
SOARKOMATIC lol :(
Home speakers (I mean tower speakers in your car)
Boosters
Cursive wrighting CDT
Prowler
Horns
Pyle Pro
Advent (the cool pyrmid shaped isobaric box)

anyone else got remember anything?

Gotta love old school stuff. I'm about to purchase a full collection of PPI Art amps. Local guy selling them in mint condition...everything from A1200's down to A200's. Time to have a little fun :)

Sweet :)

I had 2 of the pro mos amps back in the day and loved them. The art series were my favorite, clean power and looked nice too.

The old OPTIDRIVE was nice
KEK (their uniQ stuff) the ones with the blue cones and soft dome uniQ tweeters, aaaaaaaah yes! nice!
Quart was actually good
Sound Streem was too
Holy heck Phoenix Gold was also good
Lanzar was premium
Fultron was not (now memphis)
Hey I forgot about Targa now this was not ultra quality stuff but it sure is OLD SCHOOL
I really liked Earthquake subs I had like the EQ95's (or something like that) and they rocked my Ford Escort. Pushing them was 2 Sherwood Amps I think they were like the BP1000 but I could be wrong

Do not mean to bump your tread but Orion went downhill after the bought out. If you buy any of their stuff after the buyout their subs are still good and their monoblock amps are okay. Their speakers suck and that is why I am selling the HCCA 6.2 components soon so I can buy CDT components soon before January.

Check ebay for old school amps because I found a couple of guys selling the old Orion HCCA amps nicknamed the cheater amps. I did find some old PPI amps to and one Soundstream amp that I know was one before they were bought out.

It is a shame that most of the good companies are bought out and their quality went down the toilet. Just stay away from REALM and EFX because their are entry level and made by Schosche.
