2 Installation Questions

1) I have an old pair of CL-61As. I know how to hook up the speakers to the amp but I have no idea how to hook up the tweeters and the crossovers.

Could someone please post a diagram? Do I just simply hook up the tweeters to the crossovers (with one wire) and then wire a cable from the crossover to the output of the amp?


2) I plan on using 12 gauge wires with the CL-61As, is that a good choice or will 14 gauge do? Also, is 12 gauge wire ok to connect a 350RMS watt sub to the amp?

You will want to do exactly how you were thinking. Think of the crossover like a junction box, where you are joining the amplifier to the speakers via the crossover. first find where you want to mount the spaekers. Then find where you want to mount your crossovers. Run one wire to your tweeter, (which is run from the tweeter output on the crossover). then run the mid output (still from the crossover) to your mids. Now run a seperate wire from your amps speaker outputs into the crossover inputs. It is that simple, (now remember with this set up using passive crossovers none of your spekers will be "hooked" up to your amp (well they are but not directly). Instead they will all be conected to the crossover and that will be connected to the amp. if you need more help just ask.

Also it would most likely work easier if you find all your mounting points first and then run wire before mounting, and then just follow the steps.

Regarding wire size, 14 gauge will be fine for you. Wire sizing is based on the length of the run and the power being used. A simple way to check sizing can be found here:

2) Input each of the variables it asks for.
