Hi,
I am new to the forum and hope someone can help.
I purchased a pair of CL-6EX Coaxials. The mounting bracket I have will not work and I need to design one from MDF or HDPE plastic. I can trace my old 5x7 stock speakers for the outside of the bracket, but do not know what the mounting diameter of the CL-6EX's are so I can design the hole for the center of the bracket. If I can not adjust the bracket properly, I will need to return the speakers in brand new condition (so I do not want to remove them and possibly mark them in any way). Can anyone provide any suggestions or information?
Any help would be appreciated,
Mike

Ok this is what I suggest. Take your speakers out of the box but keep them in their packaging. Now measure the distance across the speakers; then (if you can) measure the lip on the back of the speaker. Now multiply that by two and take that away from the outside diameter and that should be good for mounting. Now if you do not have a protractor or template (which there should eb a useable template in the box (but maybe not), take a string and tie it to a pen or pencil, then make sure the string (the part left over) is exactly one half of the needed cutout; then place the string on the surface and just mark in a circle (this should match your needed cut out).

Thanks for the help. I also need to measure the clearance I have to the door. I have read that speaker brackets are best made of sealed MDF or HDPE plastic (cutting board material). I think if the brackets raise the speakers a bit, the part of the speaker going into the door will have a bit less diameter and should fit.
i guess nothing worth having is easy!
